From April to the end of October boat services operate between Torquay, Paignton and Brixham as well as to Dartmouth. This is an excellent and relaxing way to travel (depending upon the weather) and often affords visitors the chance to come close to local wildlife such as seals and dolphins. A key piece of advice is that even on the hottest days take a warm additional item of clothing as it is often quite cold out on the water. Boat services operate to and from Torquay harbour and the journey time to Brixham is about 30 minutes. Fares are inexpensive and good value for money.
Since Torquay is built upon seven hills it is not natural cycling territory at first glance. However, getting out on two wheels is an excellent way to see much of The English Riviera and there are cycle paths around the Bay. Cycle hire is possible from Simply The Bike in Belgrave Road.
